Dental Hygiene
“More than just a cleaning!”
 The education of today’s hygienist has a full scope of screenings. Periodontal disease, recession, serviceability of existing restorations, and plaque control are evaluated. It is extremely important to have an individual baseline of what is ‘normal’ for each patient. Periodic necessary x-rays is the mainstay for diagnosing and treatment planning.
Additionally, our hygienist will chart an indepth extra-oral exam. This includes the checking of the chewing and grinding muscles. Clenching and TMJ issues can be  detected early and corrected easier by measuring the sensitivity level of the associated muscles. She will also examine the glands and lymph nodes for swelling or discomfort that may not otherwise be detected. The thyroid gland is also noted. The recording of facial moles are charted for future analysis.
Home care is emphasized and education is the cornerstone of our hygiene program. Children will enjoy our tooth tickler and we strive to make the dental cleaning experience a positive beginning to a life time relationship at Dr. Nabors practice.
